Subject: Sentient Laser Warning

Hello Gentlemen,

A few of you warned me about Ryan over at Sentient, and through the grace of heaven I learned enough about what he was doing and I backed out of the contract. The reasons are outlined in my answer to his court filings, both of which are included as attachments. Apparently they did not take kindly to me refusing to let them screw me, and they have filed suit to force me to buy the equipment. I am providing the actual filings for you to review, as well as a draft of my answer. I would appreciate your comments if you have anything to add or any suggestions, and please feel free to show any of this documentation to any and all of your clients that may be looking to make a purchase from them (Sentient Lasers).

Also, included below is a copy/paste of the letter sent to me via email by their acting attorney, Michael Sweig. He writes a nasty, threatening letter, but I think that he is just pissed at the world because he lost his license to practice after being convicted of felony theft. Now he calls himself an author, and a lobbyist, but is actually a gun for hire at Sentient. This group of clowns is a real mess.

Whether I bought equipment from you or not, thanks to each of you gentlemen for the help and education that you provided me on this startup journey. I have obviously not forgotten you. Wish me luck on this endeavor, as I wish you luck in yours, and don’t hesitate to call or write if you have any direction or suggestions on this situation with Sentient Lasers.

to me

Dear Mr. Martin,

I am now your only contact at Sentient Lasers, LLC, where part of my job is to solve solvable problems. I have instructed others not to communicate with you, so please don’t contact them.

Except for your rank, material breach of contract, do you have any other reason for not paying Sentient Lasers, LLC the $115,000 you owe us?

We have performed all of our contractual obligations that can be performed so far, and we are ready to perform by delivery on receipt of payment. Note the contract obligates you for 100% of the purchase price. You don’t have the right to walk away with legal impunity.

Reneging won’t work. We’re commencing the contractually mandated arbitration for matters that exceed $100,000 – immediately. We’re not going to just walk away, no are you.

This looks to me like you incurred this debt in bad faith. You are personally responsible. We will collect our money.

Michael Sweig
